Top 5 packing tips your should follow

Do you hate packing? Plenty of people feel the same way and it can be quite a stressful experience. However, it’s far easier if you approach it the right way. There are a couple of tips that you need to keep in mind.

Make A List

It’s important that you have a structure and a method in place when you are packing. You need to do this to ensure that items don’t get lost. In most cases, an item won’t be lost but it can be incredibly stressful not being able to find a precious item that you are sure you packed. When you look at a list, this can be reassuring. Particularly, if you have tick boxes that clearly show specific items were packed.

Complete One Room At A Time

You should be aiming to pack one room at a time. The benefit of doing this is that everything in the room is going to be in the same collection of boxes and in the same place. So, you could be using one of the best London storage units. If that’s the case, then you don’t have to worry about having to rummage through multiple boxes to find the answer. Instead, you’ll be able to find the item or piece of furniture that you require immediately. It’s also going to make unpacking in a new home or place far easier and simpler.

Heavier Boxes To The Bottom

For obvious reasons, do make sure that you are putting the heaviest boxes at the bottom when packing. While a moving van is usually a secure space to keep items safe and so is a storage unit, putting lighting boxes underneath heavier items is just asking for trouble. You will find that items get damaged, squished and ruined if you do this. You may even want to think about making sure that you are marking which boxes are heavy and light to ensure that this doesn’t happen by mistake.

Create  A Box Of Essentials

It’s always worth packing a box of essentials and marking it as such. The benefit of this is that you will have everything that you desperately require in one space. Again it’s going to depend largely on what you’re going to need immediately. An essential box could include some clothes, a toothbrush and perhaps a sleeping bag as well or even a blow-up mattress. This can be helpful if, for instance, you reach your new property and you don’t want to start unpacking immediately. It’s commonly the case if it’s a long-distance move and can help ensure that you get the break that you require.

Use Quality Materials

Last but not least, you need to make sure that you are using quality materials when packing. If you don’t do this, then you could find that you have issues with the boxes tearing, breaking or coming apart when you are moving. This is an easy and common way that items get damaged.

We hope that this helps you pack the right way, regardless of your reason for needing to store your items.
